Awkwafina
American actor and musician Awkwafina debuted with sly rap tracks that tackled sexuality and identity with a an incisive and humorous perspective, before broadening her presence to Hollywood. She was born Nora Lum to Chinese and Korean parents who immigrated to Forest Hills Queens her first taste of musician life came via the trumpet. The classical, jazz, and hip-hop lessons began when she grew up. In college, she studied writing and women's studies. She even spent one semester studying Mandarin during her time in Beijing. Then, after graduation, that she shifted her focus towards music. Her track in 2012 My Vag a response to Mickey Avalon's My Dick found viral success on the Internet and was later released on her debut album Yellow Ranger in 2014. The album also featured popular hits, including the body positive Queef and the winking tour of her hometown NYC BitcheUSD. This track was also used in Awkwafina's NYC travel guide published in the year 2015. In addition to being a writer and musician in her portfolio, she decided to set her sights on the role of a third-party actor. In addition to early shows like Girl Code, Tawk and Bad Rap she also appeared in film projects like Neighbors and Storks. In 2018, she scored many major roles like Dude Ocean's 8 or Crazy Rich Asians. The EP came out in June.
