Apollonia Kotero

Patricia Apollonia Kotero is an American singer-actress and former model. She was known as the co-star of Prince's 1984 film Purple Rain, and the lead singer of the girl group Apollonia 6 Apollonia, a singer/actress born to Prince in 1984, became one of the female musicians of the 80s that benefited from Prince. She was born Patricia Kotero in Santa Monica California in 1959 her career began as a model and actress by the end of the '70s and included an appearance on the TV show CHiPS. In 1984 she landed the role of the lead female for Prince's Purple Rain (during which time the singer switched her names) and replaced Vanity in the female trio Vanity 6 performing with them in the movie with the title Apollonia 6. Sex Shooter, the group's minor-hit song in the film's soundtrack, was her greatest chart hit. Kotero and Prince had a fallout regarding her career. Apollonia6 broke up and Kotero was not able to continue her relationship with Prince. She then appeared in a couple of films that were minor in the 1980s (reportedly refusing an offer to star in the sequel to Purple Rain Under the Cherry Moon) prior to settling for a night-time role in the film Falcon Crest in 1985-1986. Apollonia was finally able to release her debut album in the year 1988. It failed to leave a lasting impression with music fans and was soon obliterated from the scene. The singer was still active, though not under the spotlight, as an actor during the decade following with small film and television roles. A workout DVD was released. Apollonia's Stay With Me album came out in 1997. She later returned to school received a degree in filmmaking which led to her forming a production company often working in the field of children's TV. Apollonia holds a number of jobs. Kotero, a multi-media entertainment firm founded by Kotero Entertainment CEO and founder, is an entrepreneur who is also successful.
