Holden was born in Portsmouth in Hampshire. She spent the majority of her youth in Bishop's Waltham. At nine she joined the Bishop's Waltham Little Theatre Company. Holden also has TV credits that include three series with Caroline Quentin and Chris Langham in the comedy Kiss Me Kate, three episodes on ITV's The Grimleys and Celeb With Harry Enfield, and a special Agatha Christie episode "4.50 from Paddington" for Boxing Day.
